Shanyn MacEachern

Shanyn’s strength, determination and athletic ability made her Olympic dreampossible when she represented Canada at the 1996 Olympic games and took home68th all around. Shanyn achieved the highest level for any Canadian gymnast at the1996 Olympic games held in Atlanta, Georgia.

A unique opportunity for any Olympic athlete, Shanyn was honoured to carry theOlympic torch through the City of Brampton prior to the 1996 Olympics.

Prior to the Olympic Games, Shanyn’s success included a 10th place in the vault at the 1996World Championship in Puerto Rico. One year prior, at the 1995 World Championship in Sabae,Japan, Shanyn placed 14th in the vault. In the same year, at the Pan Am Games, Shanyn placed8th all around.

Shanyn received a scholarship from Louisiana State University, and in her freshman year Shanynreceived All-America honours. Shanyn successfully graduated Louisiana State University witha Major in Education and Bachelor of Science Degree. Shanyn is an inspiration to her family,friends and all athletes.
