He prepared Grand Hooley for a runner-up finish in the 1992 Queens Plate and Jiggs Coz to a third place finish in the 2007 Queens Plate (Canada’s oldest and most prestigious race). In 2002 Sid claimed a filly by the name of One For Rose who went on to make over a million dollars in career earnings and three straight Sovereign award championships as outstanding older female.

Sid himself was a sovereign award finalist for the country’s outstanding trainer in three consecutive years (2004-2006). He has recorded five straight 50+ win seasons from 1994-1998 and another six straight 50+ win seasons from 2003-2008. Sid works seven days a week, ten months a year to achieve the results and success. These results are ongoing as Sid is still active as a trainer. He has called Brampton home ever since immigrating to Canada in 1967.

Sid was born in Malta and became a thoroughbred trainer after following his brothers to a career at the racetrack. His wife Janice has always been a big part of his success, ever since Sid became a trainer. Sid’s eldest son Paul recently started to train on his own, and has already won 83 races. His daughter Stephanie is a chef and his youngest son Jamie serves as Sid’s assistant trainer.
